Swim Course
1500 METERS / 1640 YARDS / 0.9 MILES
The clockwise swim will start on the beach just north of the boat docks at Bloedel Donovan Park. Keep ALL the buoys on your right side as you swim north to the first turn buoy (~200m). After making a right turn you will swim parallel to the shoreline and will swim past another buoy (keeping it on your right as you swim between the buoy and shoreline) until you reach the far turn buoy. Keeping this far buoy on your right you have the longest leg heading back towards the boat launch. You will pass a final buoy and YES keep it on your right as you swim past. You will exit the water on the sand near the boat launch. Then it's a short run from the Swim Exit into transition (new in the parking lot this year).
Bike Course
40 KILOMETERS / 24.9 MILES
Turn right out of Bloedel Donovan Park onto Electric Ave. Then follow a scenic route that takes you along the north side of Lake Whatcom to the turnaround at the end of North Shore Road, located half a mile from the North Lake Whatcom Trailhead. On the return, make a right onto Y Road and start climbing. This fun but challenging counter-clockwise loop takes you along Y Road, Squalicum Lake Road, Jensen Road, and Agate Bay Lane. Then make a hard right back onto North Shore Road and follow this back to Electric Ave. and the transition area at Bloedel Donovan Park.
Run Course
10 KILOMETERS / 6.2 MILES
This 10km route is mainly crushed gravel surface with a few very short sections on cement. You will head out of transition at Bloedel Donovan Park across the parking lot and right onto a gravel trail and will follow the Railroad Trail across Alabama Street to a turnaround on Alabama Hill. Then athletes partially retrace their steps and head out on a loop around forested trails in beautiful Whatcom Falls Park, passing by the waterfalls and including a fun but challenging dash up a set of stairs. YES, THERE ARE STAIRS! Enjoy a flat and fast approach on the homestretch to the Race Finish at Bloedel.
