Race Description

An Olympic-distance triathlon comes alive again this year as the Lake Whatcom Triathlon (LWT), an official timed event that welcomes athletes and relay teams. The race includes a 1500-meter swim on Lake Whatcom, 40km bike ride along North Shore Drive and Y Road, and a 10km run around the trails of beautiful Whatcom Falls Park, with the transition area and start/finish lines at Bloedel Donovan Park. The event draws beginner to elite athletes, in individual and relay divisions, and includes an expo area for athletes and spectators.

Friday, July 14th, 2017
4:00 pm - 7:00pm: Expo and Packet Pickup at Bloedel Donovan Park

Saturday, July 15th, 2017 (RACE DAY)
5:30 am - 6:30am: Packet Pickup at Bloedel Donovan Park
6:35 am: Pre-Race meeting at Bloedel Donovan Park
7:00 am: Race Start at Bloedel Donovan Park

Registration Information

Registration runs right up until race day, July 15th, 2017, or until the race sells out. Capped at 300 entrants, this race is expected to sell out, so sign up early. In addition to reduced entry fees, entrants will be eligible to win raffle prizes every few weeks.

Registration fee includes race entry, timing chip, race T-shirt, post-race food, and several training sessions and clinics leading up to the race.


Time Cutoffs

Time Cutoff Description
8:45 am Swim All swimmers must be out of the water.
9:00 am Transition 1 All cyclists must be out of T1.
11:30 am Bike Bike course is officially closed.
11:30 am Transition 2 All runners must be out of T2.
12:30 pm Run Run course is officially closed.

Refund Policy

No refunds will be given unless the race reaches 300 entrants. We will allow you to transfer your registration to the following year or to another person. Please email us at: transfer(at)lakewhatcomtriathlon.com to transfer your entry.

Awards

Athletes have many opportunities to win a prize. Awards will go to the top 3 overall female, male, and relay team athletes, and to the top 3 female and male athletes in each age group.

Awards will also be given for the following:

  • Fastest overall swim time
  • Fastest overall bike time
  • Fastest overall run time
  • Fastest combined transition time
